On the 900th anniversary of the 1st Karmapa, Karmapa Dusum Khyenpa, Thaye Dorje, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, and His Holiness Kunzig Shamar Rinpoche led celebrations in Bodh Gaya, on December 30, 2010. Bodh Gaya is the place where the historical Buddha gained enlightenment, 2,500 years ago.

Karmapa gave a speech, encouraging everyone to wish for enlightenment for all beings. Kunzig Shamar Rinpoche gave a talk about the life story of the 1st Karmapa Düsum Khyenpa.
