Karmapa Public Course 2024, Day 1
This year’s Karmapa Public Course at the Karmapa International Buddhist Institute (KIBI) started yesterday, 6 March and will continue until 13 March.
Once again, this year Thaye Dorje, the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, will continue his teaching on the Bodisattva’s Way of Life by the great Indian scholar Shantideva. Karmapa will also bestow three empowerments to a gathering of Rinpoches, monks, nuns and lay practitioners from East and West in the main shrine hall of KIBI.
In addition to Karmapa, there will be other eminent teachers conveying their knowledge of the Buddha Dharma to the participants: His Eminence Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche will teach on Rangtong Madhyamaka, Venerable Lama Jampa Thaye on Shentong Madhyamaka, and Venerable Khenpo Lobsang on the topic of Tsema (Buddhist Epistemology).
On the afternoon of the first day Karmapa granted the empowerment of Dorje Sempa (Skr. Vajrasattva) to the assembled 500 practitioners, giving detailed instructions on the various stages and the meaning of the practice.
Karmapa’s teachings from the course will be streamed here.
