Karmapa donates 500,000 rupees to West Bengal for Covid-19 relief
Thaye Dorje, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, has made a 500,000 rupee donation to West Bengal.
Karmapa shares the following message to his students around the world regarding these donations, and the practice of generosity:
These contributions are a symbolic offering of appreciation and support from our lineage. On top of that, I would like to take this opportunity to express my appreciation to everyone around the world who contributes to efforts to tackle the Covid-19 pandemic, be it in the form of financial means, supplying food and other essentials, or any other kind of support.
Even the simplest form of generosity, such as offering a few potatoes or even a smile, makes a big difference. Thus, I encourage everyone to practice whatever form of generosity you can – no matter how limited your financial means may be.
Letter to Smt. Mamata Banerjee, Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal, dated 27 April 2020
