Chernihiv Diamond Way Buddhist Center
The Chernihiv Buddhist center was registered in 1999. Before the official registration there was a group of people interested in Buddhism, who were gathering for common meditations in Chernihiv. The first visit of Lama Ole Nydahl in Chernihiv was in September 2000. He came to Chernihiv for only 2 hours before lecture in Kyiv and gave a public lecture in fitness-club “Yana”. After that Lama Ole came to Chernihiv two more times – in 2001 and 2010.
During first years after registration, meditations were conducted at friends’ houses and in rented apartments. In 2002 the first flat was bought on the Magistratska Street. Since 2008 the center is located in the historical and cultural center of the city on the Prospect Myru, 27/9.
Here everyone can learn about Buddhism by visiting lectures of the Buddhist teachers and meditating in a group. Also it is possible to get detailed explanations about practices of Karma Kagyu school, to ask questions, to buy Buddhist literature and to use the center’s library.
