2019 Kagyu Monlam: the story continues (photos)
Thaye Dorje, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, presided over aspiration prayers on days two and three of the 2019 Kagyu Monlam in Bodh Gaya, India.
On the fourth day, Karmapa visited the private residence of His Eminence Luding Khenchen Rinpoche. His Eminence Luding Khenchen Rinpoche is the 75th head of the Ngor tradition of the Sakya school of Tibetan Buddhism, a pre-eminent spiritual master and lineage holder, and one of Karmapa’s greatest teachers.
Karmapa was greeted by His Eminence Luding Khenchen Rinpoche, his attendants and staff, with great warmth and joy.
Karmapa made an offering of ku sung thuk and a mandala offering to His Eminence Luding Khenchen Rinpoche. Karmapa’s monks all offered kataks to His Eminence Luding Khenchen Rinpoche as a mark of deep respect.
Karmapa and His Eminence Luding Khenchen Rinpoche then had a two hour private meeting. Everyone was treated to a delicious home-cooked meal and tea.
Karmapa once again expressed his humble appreciation to His Eminence Luding Khenchen Rinpoche, and then departed to preside over the afternoon prayers at the Monlam.
